Cinema lover and sometimes director - he is the author of the beautiful short movie introducing his autumn-winter collection (watch it here : ici),
Jonathan Riss is a full artist. He finds his inspiration mostly on the silver screen, in mythical movies or even in b-movies. The idea for the very short shirt dresses for next summer for example comes from a sixties in which the heroine is running after a man, wearing just his shirt.
Jonathan Riss also spends a lot of time in his shops. He likes, he says, being a spectator of women's emotions when they see themselves in his dresses. Here again, he finds idea, like this strapless dress open in the back, a reference to these women coming out of the fitting room with a unzipped dress, asking for help.
He doesn't create only dresses but they are what he likes the most as they sufficient unto themselves and can be declined to infinity. He likes the idea of simplifying his customers' lives, that they can, in a glance to their closet, know exactly what to wear. He creates item not too classical, not conceptual which he wants easy to wear before anything.
For my first look, he chooses a trompe l'oeil shirt dress. Casual chic, I could be going to the office as much as to an art opening, a real chameleon. Are you coming, Jonathan ?
And what about running away with the dress and this braided clutch on this device ? And if I die tomorrow ...
The next look is more boardroom chic with a willing reference to Chanel. With this dress on, I can be sure to get all the signatures I want.
Even better : a diamond ring
And since Jonathan likes to play dolls, like Guillaume Hanry, he doesn't stop the game after two looks and here I am, dressed in a feathered evening dress, light and sublime. The feathers comes from the same supplier as the Lido's, he proudly explains me.
Can you sew? Hum, no, why? This need to be fixed at once. Jonathan opens a door and we are in the workshop, just above the shop, for a masterclass of sewing machines under the attentive glance of the manager.
I could almost do it, it must be the hidden Jenny Humphrey in me.
Take more pictures ? Hey, but can't you see we're working, Pascal ?!
And here it is : how in three outfit, how my look on the brand Jay Ahr - that I thought only for the red carpet - has been changed. I, who almost don't wear dresses anymore, I would like to spend my life in this one. Go figure.
