Career

Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta was born in New York from an Italian family on March 28th, 1986. As a child, she is already interested by music and learns, on her own, to play the piano. She writes her first songs at 13 and plays live at 14, during an Open Mic Night organised in a New-York bar.

At 20, she enters the TISCH School of Design in New-York and starts at the same time to play in clubs, in particular with Lady Starlight. But to pay the bills, she also has to work as stripper and a gogo-danceuse.

Right from the beginning, her shows are inspired by the burlesque genre and are very theatrical. Her music influences are wide, from Madonna to Michael Jackson or Queen and the girl mixes genres : "I've always loved pop rock music and theater. When I discovered Queen and David Bowie, everything went together and I realized I could do both at the same time." She then starts to call herself Lady Gaga as a tribute to Queen's song Radio Gaga.

Lady Gaga writes her first hit songs for other artists, such as Pussy Cat Dolls, from the label Konvict Muzik owned by Akon. He quickly discovers that she can also sing and helps her to sign with Konvikt Muzik and Interscope Record.

The first single from her first album, Just Dance, turns Lady Gaga into a star and her tour The Fame Ball Tour is a big success. The second album is out short after and the single Telephone is a duo with Beyonce. Lady Gaga never stops working and go on a the road again with the The Monster Ball Tour.

Lady Gaga received many awards, including three MTV Video Awards, two Grammy Awards and three BRIT Awards.

Her third album should be out in 2010.

Lady Gaga's Style

In highschool already, Lady Gaga could be noticed with her excentric and uncommon style. She sees fashion as an art, and her icons are Donatella Versace and Peggy Bundy.

She is the one designing her costumes for her shows. On stage and in real life, her style is both futurist and graphic. Her hair is platinium blond and hairstyles are always crazy. Her colours are black and white, sequins and metallics. She finds inspiration with famous designers as well as in the theater and burlesque worlds.

Jewelery does not have Gaga's preference but one accessory seems to always come back: sunglasses, always huge and covering half of her face.
